Physics of Environment, Medical, and Energy
The Area of Interest in Environmental, Medical, and Energy Physics (KBP FILAMEN) is one of the specialisation tracks within the Physics Study Program that integrates the application of physics in three strategic areas: environment, medical, and energy. In the field of environmental physics, students explore terrestrial, aquatic, and atmospheric systems; conduct pollution and contamination analysis; study natural resource conservation; and engage in disaster mitigation through survey and mapping approaches. This area is supported by a range of facilities, including resistivity meters, turbidimeters, automatic weather systems, water quality meters, Geiger-Müller detectors, and other field-based research tools. Meanwhile, in medical physics, students gain knowledge in measurement and medical instrumentation, including radiation protection, focusing on the application of physics-based technology in medical diagnostics and treatment. In the energy physics specialisation, the focus lies on renewable energy, nuclear reactor design and analysis, and sustainable energy resource management. Through relevant coursework and guidance from experienced lecturers such as Dr. Boni P. Lapanporo, M.Sc., Dr. Nurhasanah, M.Si., and Yuris Sutanto, M.Sc., KBP FILAMEN offers an excellent opportunity for students to advance their applied physics expertise and contribute to addressing global challenges in the areas of environment, health, and energy.
